Burn are delighted to be partnering with a brand new and exciting fringe boardsports project, which just launched at this year's Winter X Games, Europe. Looking Sideways is the name of the project and it aims to celebrate the creativity which both surrounds and defines boardsport culture. Looking Sideways will also explore the areas around the fringes of the extreme sports world, whether that's photography, art, music or anything else inventive and innovative.
Looking Sideways saw its first action in Tignes from March 14-19, with a programme full of top-level action away from the slopes. There was a variety of events with live music, exhibitions, art shows, pro-riding photo sessions, demos, film making, on-location magazine publishing, live blogging, film premieres and an awful lot more all happening.
Among the highlights was live music from Ben Howard, the Dalikfodda show on Saturday night, the mini-ramp, a live performance from DUKE, the Vans waffle truck and art exhibitions from photographer Alex Hill, James McPhaill and Ben Marshall. Plus there was the all-new live-art wall, too. See the video above for the launch party goings-on, as filmed by Mark Ruparelia. It was hella fun.
You had the chance to get involved in Looking Sideways before its launch at the Winter X Games. They invited you to get artistic in celebrating the creative side of snowboarding. The brief was simple - create something that you would find in the mountains. The deadline has obviously passed for that, but Looking Sideways is an ongoing project and they are still accepting submissions for new projects, which can be found out about on their official website.
Keep tuned to this page and the Looking Sideways Facebook Page for more from the project.
