Check out our mini-interviews with Mathieu and the other burn riders here.
Fresh from competing at the Winter X Games in Tignes, Burn Unit rider Mathieu Crepel scooped first place the ninth annual Pony Session prize in resort of Saint Clary, beating off competition from Swede Isaak Bjornstrom and fellow Frenchman JJ Roux, who came in third. Congratulations Mathieu!
Crepel won the 4 star Swatch TTR World Tour event with consistent runs throughout the day, and absolutely killed it with his final run, which included a half cab boardslide 270, switch back 900 of the Salomon Big Air and frontside 1080.
On Sunday in conditions just as testing, the Best Tricks were thrown hard at the Dakine Pole Jam, Salomon Big Air and Burn Rail and that man Isaak Bjornstrom won the Big Air contest with a switch back 1080 and a 50-50 rodeo tail grab on the Dakine Pole Jamm, taking his tally to two. Adan Baserba secure top place on the Burn Rail with a 270 hardway 270 front baggle.
Newly acquired Slovenian rider Aljosa 'Jojo' Krivec placed sixth out of 50 riders, stomping sick tricks in all of his runs. He started off with a fs 720 and bs 900 before moving onto a fs 720 and double backflip. He really nailed it in his third run where he landed a massive FS 1080 followed up with a BS double rodeo 900! There'll be more to come from this guy, for sure.
Look forward to seeing you all in 2012 for the TENTH anniversary of the Pony Session!
